The Piano Life Saver System is strongly recommended for all pianos in the Edmonton area. At almost 1/2 mile above sea level, air is too dry to keep a piano at its optimum humidity level of 45% R.H. (relative humidity). It is difficult to achieve this level in winter without causing damaging condensation inside walls. As a result the wood components shrink and degrade, leading to loose/rattling keys and reduced tuning stability. Installed within the case, the Life Saver System silently humidifies to 45% without affecting the rest of the room. By regulating humidity to 45%, the system protects the bridges, pinblock, action, soundboard, cabinet, felts, glues and buckskin. In summer, without air conditioning the humidity rises which leads to swelling/degradation of the aforementioned components, stiff/sticky keys, mold and/or rust. When excess humidity is detected, the System silently dehumidifies by inducing a gentle draft through the internal cabinet. If you have air conditioning, the System will likely remain in humidification mode. No user intervention is required other than to fill the tank when the a small LED blinks. When we perform your annual tuning, we will replace the wicking pads and provide a new bottle of “pad treatment solution”. The effectiveness of the System can be increased with a fitted, cloth undercover (for grand pianos) or backcover (for vertical/spinet pianos). Payment is due prior to installation. Please select the correct link(s) to securely check out. We will follow up within one business day to book installation. An undercover or backcover isn’t required although they reduce moisture loss. This reduces fill frequency and consumption of pad treatment solution, maintaining pad effectiveness. If you have any questions or would like to purchase by phone, please call (780) 652-3295 (open 8 to 8 daily), or complete the form below and we will follow up within one business day.
